Is there REALLY any “secret” fishing spots left?

This day and age - we believe there’s very few. Unfortunately, hiking miles into the woods to get away from the crowds doesn’t always work. Sometimes it does but most of the time not so much. There is guys just like you doing the exact same thing. When you think you stumbled upon the crown jewel of honey holes and other people don’t fish it or don’t even know about it, is very unlikely. Unless it’s private property somewhere, the spot is probably someone else’s secret spot too. You just never hear about it for a reason. As an angler, that’s something you’d keep under wraps and only tell your best buds (if that). We believe it’s due to the influx of anglers over the years since covid and high social media presence. Everyone has a phone on them now a days. Blurring backgrounds and going to far lengths to hide the identity of the water is now common practice. For good reason : to keep angler presence to very few or even fishable in some cases without burning the spot and getting it shutdown and/ or posted. Sadly, as an angler : landowners are stricter than ever and restricting more areas along rivers than ever before. But, rightfully so with the lack of respect some anglers convey. 

One must come to reality from the bank or a boat - that nothing is very much “secret” anymore and you are going to have to fish around other anglers. Thus, you really have to be dialed with your gear and be good at reading the water. These days, the average angler can catch them when there’s fish everywhere. When there’s few fish around or when the bite get’s tough which seems to be more and more common - anglers that take the next step by doing their homework, are dedicated, put their head down and grind really shine. That can make a difference between catching and going home skunked.
